Gopal’s Challenge: Buying a Hilsa Fish
During the Hilsa fish season, it was the talk of the town. Even in the royal court, courtiers were discussing it, which made the king angry. He challenged Gopal, the wisest man in his court, to buy a large Hilsa fish and bring it to the palace without anyone questioning him. Gopal accepted the challenge and set out to complete it.
Preparing for the Challenge
To avoid attracting attention, Gopal shaved half of his beard and covered himself in ash. He dressed in rags and appeared disgraceful, which concerned his wife. Despite her protests, Gopal persisted and set out to buy the fish. He purchased a huge Hilsa fish from the market and headed towards the palace.
Winning the Challenge
As Gopal walked with the fish, no one noticed it, but they did notice him. People saw his appearance and called him a mystic and madman. Gopal went to the palace, but the guards stopped him. He started dancing and singing loudly, which caught the king’s attention. The king asked him about his appearance, and Gopal reminded him of the challenge. He had successfully completed it, and no one had asked him about the Hilsa fish from the market to the palace. The king laughed and acknowledged Gopal’s success.

कुछ दिनों के बाद गोपाल ने अपने चेहरे के आधे हिस्से से दाढ़ी काट ली और खुद पर राख मल दी। वह चिथड़े पहनता था और शर्मनाक दिखता था। उसकी पत्नी चौंक गई और उसे इस तरह घर नहीं छोड़ने के लिए कहा, लेकिन गोपाल उसे बताता रहा कि वह एक विशाल हिलसा मछली खरीदने जा रहा है। उसे लगा कि गोपाल पागल हो गया है। बाजार में गोपाल ने एक विशाल हिलसा मछली खरीदी और महल की ओर चलने लगा। मछली पर किसी की नजर नहीं थी, लेकिन हर कोई गोपाल को अपने जर्जर कपड़ों के साथ अजीब तरह से चलते हुए देख रहा था। लोग उन्हें रहस्यवादी और पागल कहते थे।
गोपाल ने जीता चैलेंज
वह राजा से मिलने गया लेकिन गार्डों ने उसे रोक दिया। उन्होंने शाही महल के सामने जोर-जोर से नाचना-गाना शुरू कर दिया। राजा ने गोपाल से उसकी अजीब पोशाक के कारण के बारे में पूछताछ की। गोपाल ने राजा को चुनौती के बारे में याद दिलाया और उन्हें बताया कि बाजार से लेकर शाही महल तक, किसी ने भी उनसे हिल्सा मछली के बारे में एक शब्द भी नहीं पूछा था। राजा हँसने लगा और स्वीकार किया कि गोपाल ने असंभव को एक बार फिर से पूरा कर दिया है।
